The year is coming to an end and we’re taking a quick peek at what everyone is listening to at Digi HQ. Here is a list of the writers’ top 5 music artistes this year and why number one is number one.
Solomon
- Kyle
- Big Sean
- Burna boy
- Dominic Fike
- Sub Urban
It’s not like Kyle has released anything in recent times, but his Light of Mine deluxe album is my most listened to album this year. Not a single bad song on it and it’s so relatable.
Ebuka
I ranked them based on the fact that their albums were super amazing. As usual, Show Dem Camp bring to limelight new artists by featuring them on different tracks, plus their rap style being unique as they solely focus on relatable topics that make you wanna leave them on repeat.
Fumilayo
- H.E.R
- Victoria Monet
- Chris Brown
- Burna Boy
- Pheelz
H.E.R is my favorite because she has this subtle way of telling stories in such a melodious way and if you listen carefully, you would peek at the stories. Plus, she nastyyyyy and I love it!
Itty
- Boj
- Show Dem Camp
- BNXN
- Obongjayar
- Izee
My easy number one is Boj. Because Gbagada Express has the best songs in the world this year and every feature (primarily the SDC one) was a banger! Everyone should worship Boj.
Ediri
- Burna boy
- Asake
- Ayra Starr
- Beyoncé
- Simi
Burna’s stage performance at the MSG took his brand to a whole new level! I’ve loved his songs over the years, but he separated him from the pack with how well his live performances are. He made my summer with his album too and he arguably had the biggest African song of the year with “Last Last”.
You can tell we listen to good music at the HQ!
Millennials across Africa and in the diaspora have the same picture of what the world should look like. We are documenting it in the coolest ways 🤘
