A new rising music luminary appears on the horizon. Talented and promising, Benjamin Ayibaifiye Ayibakuro professionally known as Myron emerges from Port Harcourt city, Rivers State. The Afrobeats singer-songwriter, recording and performing artist has set a pace for his music journey. A huge breakout from being a kid freestyling and putting out his music on Instagram to releasing his first debut single, “Brother Man”.
Born on May 31, 2004, Myron hails from Southern Ijaw, Bayelsa State. However, Port Harcourt is more influential on his upbringing and growth. Where he now callls homes, drawing inspiration from the city and the success of Port Harcourt artists like Duncan Mighty, Burna Boy, Omah Lay and Ajebo Hustlers.
Myron’s earliest musical memories was freestyle and singing in secondary school. Few years later, he was recognized by Nigerian Comedian Sabinus, who gave Myron a co-sign and shared the rising Port Harcourt artiste on his social media. The aftermath was Myron music going viral, gaining new followers, reaching a wider audience and a record deal to get signed to White Lux Records. Myron’s choice to sign with White Lux was their uniformity in vision. His vision and that of the label were aligned and he believed in their drive to push the vision into actualization.
“What attracted me to Whitelux was the level of capability, competence and readiness to achieve our goal, not being tribalistic but we’re all from Port harcourt. At Whitelux, they all have the same vision as me to bring about global recognition”, Myron commented sharing his thought on what attracted him to White Lux Records. Myron is the first artist the label is signing.
In April, 2023, Myron released his debut single, Brother Man” with White Lux Records. Produced by Kemena, “Brother Man” is a fusion of Afrobeats and R&B. The mellow record garnered over 500k streams across all platforms in the first month of release. Myron’s music is reflective and retrospective of his experiences as a teenager from Southern Nigeria.
Through his music, Myron convey emotions and messegae that are peculiar to him. He commented that, “I make music based on how I’m feeling, but in every music I make you’d definitely see the bright side of things that makes you smile, even though you probably cry and feel sad in the beginning but you’d obviously smile at the end, after the rain comes sunshine, but that’s not how life is most times bear in mind, I also put that in my music too.”
In a bid to promote “Brother Man”, Myron and White Lux Records initatied the #BrotherManChallenge with music creatives across Nigeria particpating in the challenge making covers and different versions of the song. At the end of the challenge, five winners emerged and were gifted with cash prizes.
White Lux Records is invested in Myron’s artistic development to bring the artist to limelight with the globe familiar with his sound. To achieve this, Myron is working on a body of work themed “Thought Process”. The forthcoming album will have songs produced by Krizbeatz and other Award Winning Producers such as Phantom and Kel P.
