As you probably also are, we are in awe of the masterpiece that Blaqbonez’s “Back In Uni” video is. Directed by Blaqbonez and Abdulrasaq Perliks, this video is arguably one of the best Nigerian music videos this year.
I’ve had many discussions recently concerning the state of the Nigerian music video industry and how until very recently, there have been only very few videos with incredible overall storytelling. But in this video, Emeka the Stallion tackles this very creatively, of course alongside his co-director Perliks.
The Wizkid ‘Bad to Me’ outfit, Oxlade’s dance from the iconic ‘Ku Lo Sa’ Colors show, Asake’s twitching eyes from the ‘Bandana’ video Burna Boy’s Dazed photoshoot, and many other comedic callbacks to images or videos of Buju, Ruger, Portable and Ayra Starr, all helping Blaqbonez tell his “I did it myself story”, while also being excellently comedic at it.
This is Blaqbonez’s first directing credit, and as he has led us to believe, this is because he couldn’t afford TG Omori; a narrative we highly suspect to be only a PR tactic.
. @BlaqBonez Back in Uni video is Kendrick Lamar level of visual creativity … 🔥🔥🔥

With over 700,000 views and counting in less than 24 hours, this video is set to dominate the charts. With Blaqbonez‘s debut album “Young Preacher” set to be released later this year and our anticipation of it, lovers of African music around the world cannot wait to see what else his mind delivers.
Abraham is a creative always looking for new mediums of expression, he's a self proclaimed genius and professional ranter. He's in love with Nigerian music, alte especially.
