FIFA executive member and former NFF president, Amaju Pinnick affirmed that the show organizers had paid 94,600 dollars and also arranged an 18,000 dollars private jet to fly the artist to the arena.
Fast rising Nigerian artist, Shallipopi was subsequently invited as a replacement act to headline the event in Davido’s absence. Several social media backlash between Davido and Mr Amaju took place which resulted in the artist bringing to light the reason for his absence at the show.
He clarified that he had relayed to the organizers about the date clash between the concert and his tour stop at New Zealand and so, would not be able to honor the invitation to perform at the Warri concert. But, according to the singer, the organizers and show promoters still went head on with using his name for the event’s publicity.
The superstar posted on his instagram story on Sunday the 8th thus, “To my lovely fans in Warri that spent their hard earned money to come out. Apologies you had to experience this. I was not going to be physically able to make it and this had been communicated to ‘them’ for a longgggg while now I mean MONTHS ago but for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame. But specially for my fans out there, don’t worry, you know I gotta bring Timeless to Delta State. We will do it proper, bigger and better!”.
