Offstage: Alhaji Popping

For many years, Boj – alongside other DRB Lasgidi – has worn the outlook of the leader of Lagos’ new school musicians, popularly known as the Alté crew.

Sees the PRBLM has also gathered some fame as producer to most of Falz’s hit records. But you probably didn’t know Tobi Mohammed, one of the engines working behind both acts.

Also known as Alhaji Popping and famous for being the convener of the Mainland Block Party series and Founder of Eyowo, Tobi has managed a couple of your favourite names including Victony, Bella Shmurda and DRB. 

Tobi discovered his love for the entertainment industry and founded his entertainment company, Topboy Entertainment, in 2013. This flagged off his journey in managing talents like Ayojay, Sess the PRBLM and Rayce, Boj and more recently, Bella Shmurda. In addition, Tobi has contributed to the success stories of various other artists like Ajebutter, Falz, Adekunle Gold, Reminisce, Teezee, to name a few.

With his passion for curating events and experiences for the youth, Tobi founded the Block Party franchise – starting with the Mainland Block Party in 2018. Over the years, Tobi and his team have successfully executed numerous Block Party events, growing the franchise to include the Island block party in Lagos, Oringo block party in Owerri, Gold block party in Ghana, Garden block party in Port Harcourt, Premiere block party in Ibadan, and Capital Block Party in Abuja  and a block party pop up in Porto Rico at Afronation. 

Tobi is extremely passionate about sustainability and he expresses this through his women empowerment and volunteering efforts. By contributing to and founding initiatives like the Christmas in Lagos for the Makoko community, Lagos Food Bank, and Block Party is Love Foundation, he aims to promote the message of love, growth and inclusion, starting one community at a time.
