If you are a fan of coming-of-age series, then you’ll definitely love ‘Wednesday’ and ‘Far From Home’. Tim Burton’s spin-off of the Addams’ franchise is justice done. If you grew up watching ‘The Addams Family’, you will have high expectations for ‘Wednesday’ and frankly, it was well delivered.
You might also love ‘Far From Home’, Nigeria’s first-ever Netflix original young adult series.
Inasmuch both movies have different storylines, some of their characters have a whole lot in common. Let’s take a look at some of them and their similarities.
Wednesday Addams and Ishaya Bello
The protagonists from both movies. Odd in their own ways, yet special. Trouble seems to find these two wherever they go, but what keeps them going is their determination, courage and zeal to survive.
Morticia Addams and Mabel Wilmer-Willoughby
Call them the matriarchs. They might come off as uncaring and insensitive but deep down, they actually even give more than one eff. They only have a strange way of showing it. Both women value class, elegance and power and are in literal control of their families.
Gomez Addams and Feyi Wilmer-Willoughby
It’s so ironic that the fathers are the ones who seem softest and closest to the children. Unlike their wives, they openly show their affection and love their wives and children wholly. They are also money bags.
Bianca Barclay and Carmen Wilmer-Willoughby
The “Queen Bees” of both schools. They come off as snobbish and spoiled, but at the end of the day we realise they are sweet people who are victims of their circumstances and they also help in saving the day.
Enid Sinclair and Zina
They love their friends to a fault and are willing to give it all for them. They both carry a childlike aura around them. The duo love colours so much it could get quite annoying.
Principal Weems and Principal Gemade
Both have an odd way with which they run their schools but in the end, they want what’s best for their students.
Marilyn Thornhill (Laurel Gates) and Adufe
These two wear the perfect definition of wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Other characters from ‘Wednesday’ are Thing, Uncle Fester, Pugsley, Xavier Thorpe. While Atlas, Nnenna, Government, Oga Rambo, Reggie and a couple others are from ‘Far From Home’.
Which other characters from both series do you think are similar?
If "Hermother's Daughter" isn't talking about something she is passionate about, then she's writing it. She is always in her head space, majorly thinking about what to cook or bake (to be frank, eat).
