Following the passing of late rapper Mohbad, Naira Marley and the public reputation of his independently owned record label, Martian music, has been tragically dragged through the mud.
Naira Marley has had to face accusations of assault, drug trafficking, and alleged murder. These accusations have induced severe defamation in the artist’s public perception which has subsequently yielded a negative turn around for his career. There are several headlines of Naira Marley’s music being banned from local and international radio play and the cancellation of his concerts by show promoters.
As a step towards ‘clearing the air’, the rapper released a press statement via his Instagram page which explicates vigorously his non-concordance with the death of late Mohbad.
He stated thus “Permit me to categorically state that I have no hand in the death of Ilerioluwa whether directly or indirectly.”
The rapper confirmed the existence of a personal rift with the late Mohbad but also justified that the tussle between them never escalated to the extent that would result in causing harm to one another.
The press statement also pointed to Marley dropping all allegations of his record label, Marlian music being associated with any form of drug trafficking, saying, “The rumors regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue. I am not a drug lord, neither do I Marley belong to any cult or fraternity.”
Naira Marley has also attested to comply with the Nigeria Police in carrying out proper investigation in order to bring to light the perpetrators of Mohbad’s death.
