There are approximately 8 billion people in the world. About 25 billion of them are music artists. How? Don’t ask us. But here is a list of 5 types of artistes you could meet at a concert.
The struggling “superstars”
They themselves make music and are waiting for able God to shower His blessings. These ones go harder than anyone else with their music. Yes, they have passion and love for music but the way inflation dey choke, they also need this paper.
After the concert, you may see them trying to get backstage to corner any manager, producer or artist they can get their hands on just for a chance to pitch themselves. We rate being aggressive with your dream and so we rate them too!
When it comes to these artists, we see them, we’re rooting for them, and we hope the music industry is kind to them.
Opening acts – “quarter to blow”
Many of our favourite artists today started out this way. They get lucky enough to open for an established artist at some point and it gives their career some much needed momentum.
The audience is not usually excited about the opening act because they usually just want to skip all the beating-about-the-bush to see the main act come on. But every now and then, some opening acts have a tendency to surprise us and truly blow the audience away, despite being inexperienced.
Trust fund babies
These ones are also opening for the main artist, but sometimes they get the gig based on connections and it shows. People are usually confused as to how they got the gig because they’re not always the best.
Also, there’s a very visible difference between music being an artist’s passion, and it being their hobby. One can always tell that although Asake is insanely talented and loves music, the man also has to pay rent. It’s only the fear of poverty that can make somebody aspire to perspire like that.
The advertising agent
These are the ones accosting people in the crowd individually and sending them their Soundcloud links. They’re doing their best to promote their music and again, you have our respect.
Regardless of what your profession is, you have to be your biggest cheerleader. You think Bobrisky was chatting crap when she said that you can’t expect others to represent you if you’re not representing yourself? These artists understand this and they do it wholeheartedly.
The talented ghost
These ones can sing more than the artist on stage. They’ll just be beside you, sounding like angels. These are underground artists that are so obscenely talented, but just haven’t made the right connections so nobody really knows about them or their music.
That’s them.
Tessy is a writer who loves music, and trying new things. She also really enjoys staying in the house as there is truly, always rice at home
