Last week, we took to our social media to announce the launching of a documentary series which we have thoughtfully titled “Offstage: A DigiMillennials Original”.
With African music getting bigger as seconds pass, its creators also gain more international recognition. The scene has experienced international breakouts like Ckay, Tems, Rema and a long list of others; thanks to streaming culture and technology.
However, beyond the artists themselves, there are lots of people who do incredible work to make and sell the music behind the scenes. These people work day and night to play their parts at putting Afrobeats culture on the map and at a global scale. They are talent managers, A&Rs, label executives, PR personnel, music producers, engineers and many others.
DigiMillennials’ Offstage is a YouTube video series that seeks to spotlight these incredibly hard working people and serve as a platform for them to tell stories about the work that they do. The name “Offstage” describes people who work behind the scenes in order to make things happen.
The first season will have five episodes and will feature leading talent managers in Africa’s music scene including Oreoluwa Peters, Tobi Mohammed, Anthony Egwu, Isioma Nwaruocha and Olajumoke Olayiwola.
