We strongly believe in Kitchener-Waterloo supremacy. So as the self-appointed prefects of the KW region, let us help you out with some recommendations so you can be outside a little more this year.
Beertown
We know you probably don’t drink beer because it’s disgusting and you have class; but for those of you that like stout, Beertown might be the place for you. They have a great food menu, and a wide range of beer on tap for alcoholics at all times. You see, just like the mercies of God, their selection of beers are new every morning as they never lack variety. The vibe in this restaurant/pub is electric and will almost guarantee you a great time with your friends.
Chicopee
Generally, we don’t know what any normal person is looking for outside their house in the winter but okay. For those of you that love to ski and snowboard, the Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort has your back. They also have excellent trails that can be explored in the summertime, and a lot of very family-friendly activities. Not every time rocks and alcohol; sometimes, spend time with your family and build strong relationships with those potential kidney donors God gave you.
The Jazz Room
We all know the only reason some of us listen to jazz is so that we can carry our shoulders and be pretentious about an exquisite taste in music. And if we can do it, you can do it too, so check out the Jazz Room. It’s located at the Huether Hotel in Uptown Waterloo. The live jazz music from their different rotations of talented musicians will leave you spellbound.
Conestogo River Horseback Adventures
You see those rich people that spend their days riding horses wearing those unnecessary uniforms? Don’t you want to be like them? You better start from somewhere and learn how to ride the horses from now. Conestogo River Horseback is affordable and they have a ranch full of beautiful horses. The instructors take you on beautiful rides with the horses. You can ride through trails, lakes and the most beautiful scenery. I recommend this one for dates; it’s fun, personal, and unusual – but in a good way.
Sofar Sounds
This one is by far a favourite thing on this list. Sofar Sounds puts on the most beautiful secret music shows all over the city. And by “secret”, we mean they only reveal the venue of each show the day before the show. Naturally, with an upbringing from Port Harcourt in southern Nigeria, the fear of getting kidnapped is real. But if you can override that Nigerian-born fear of being used for ritual, you’ll actually enjoy this one.
The artists and venues are always different, but the shows are always beautiful, intimate and captivating. However, we do have to warn you that because these shows are so beautiful, a lot of couples like to attend them. You may not be a hater but we are. We don’t like seeing people in love. Take a friend and go to a Sofar Sounds show in KW. It’s guaranteed fun!
