Calm Down was released in 2022 as one of the lead singles to Rema’s debut album, ‘Rave and Roses’. The remix with American singer Selena Gomez which was released later on in the year has successfully broken and set new records that has earned it the title of the most prominent African record of all time.
To further establish its status as the most commercially successful African record in the United States, ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez has sold over 6,000,000 units making it an RIAA 6-time platinum certified record.
Some of the feats achieved by Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ includes hitting the record breaking 1 billion streams on Spotify, holding the record for the most viewed song by a Nigerian artist surpassing Ckay’s ‘Love Nwatiti’. The record also stands as the highest peaking Nigerian song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, reaching its highest spot at number 3 and maintaining a spot in the chart for over 52 weeks.
