After rolling back and forth with life’s mishaps, Jody, being a purposeful and strong-willed artist chose to win back his will through his only instrument of triumph, music. Being an adept songwriter, each song on this 5 track EP signifies different phases of his life and the stories attached to them.
With ‘Last Of A Dying Breed’, Jody delivers a fusion of hip hop and afrobeats harmoniously with his artistic use of his vocals and lyrical composition. He describes this project as a mixture of his emotions, “good or bad, each song comes from a place of yearning and hope” , he said. “Jody has had to face a lot from life which has led to so many changes, I hope his listeners get to relate to his world through these songs”- Ayodeji, jody’s manager.
‘Winning’, the lead single to this EP was released in February 2024. It depicts the struggles of achieving one’s dream amidst betrayal and people pressure. ‘Lessons’, the third track on the EP highlights the artist asking himself questions like “how many dagger go enter my back before i change my circle, how many lessons I go learn before i finally get it right?” This track explains Jody’s yearning for change and a space to grow.
After releasing his debut EP ‘Waves’ in 2021 which received an unfeigned reception from listeners, Jody went on a 3 year hiatus but made a remarkable and distinguished comeback with this groundbreaking body of work.
