Omawumi’s is a household name when it comes to veteran musicians who have driven African music from where it used to be, to where it is now. Her input to the scene cannot be overemphasised as she has hits like Bottom Belle, Somtin, Megbele and many others to her name. Enjoy this chat she had with us on some interesting facts about herself.
1. No skirts
I don’t own a skirt! I think I probably have been styled with skirts a couple of times but I don’t own one. For a while, I didn’t own a jumpsuit either but I think I found some I liked and I got them.
2. Introvert
I am an introvert. I love my quiet time. I don’t listen to loud music in the car. I can’t be in a club/lounge for more than 2hrs. After that, I wan go house abeg. I love reading and watching the series I watch. I don’t like fussing, or dressing up. In my line of work, it is odd. But I am who I am.
3. Aspirations
I have always aspired to be a teacher or an author of a thriller! I hope I get to fulfill those dreams in this lifetime.
4. Swallow stan!
I believe I can’t survive three days without swallowing either garri, poundo, starch or something!
5. No reality TV
I don’t watch reality TV! Coming from someone who is the product of a reality show, I know right? But I feel like the world is real enough, let’s escape into fiction, abeg. Bonus is that I am a full Jesus baby! I love God! I attribute my success, my life, everything I am to Almighty God. Extra bonus: My husband is a Muslim while I am Christian.

Itty can be caught studying African pop culture, writing about it or hosting a relationship podcast. When he's not doing any of these, then he's definitely at a bar, getting mocktail.
