Onaedo Obiekwe, popularly known as Ona Dema, is a Nigerian born – Canadian based artist, who expresses herself through multiple mediums. As a visual artist, she bares her innermost thoughts and feelings on a canvas, and as a musical artist, transmits these same feelings to her audience through music.
Having been an independent artist since 2017, Ona Dema got signed to Sony Music West Africa in 2020, and has since released several songs including; No Time ft Dremo, Krazy, Heart on Fire, and her most recent work; Palm Tree.
Ona is a very dedicated artist who, like several others, has put in the needed time and effort to get to her current position. From making covers to the songs of her preferred artists, to utilizing social media to promote her songs and artworks, she continues to prioritize her art.
This dedication to her work has since borne pleasant experiences, one of which she highlights in a recent post wherein she places side by side a video of herself making the cover to Johnny Drille’s song in 2019, and performing at his 2024 musical concert in Canada.
Ona Dema creates music that resonates first with her, then shares the same, with hopes that it does the same for others. She is a genre bender who continues to explore musical genres including Pop, Fusion and Alternative sounds, to pass across her message.
