Alberta’s rising musical talent comes together under one roof for 3rd Verse Records’ LYFE (Lost Yesterday Found Eternity) album, a genre-defying collaborative album that fuses Hip-Hop, AfroBeats, R&B, into a powerful sonic journey of community, artistic expression, and cultural transformation. This is the first album of its kind from Alberta, with a single that has already earned award recognition. The latest visualizer release “Call It” is out now, featuring Western Canada Music Award nominee Mouraine and R&B artist Cybril.
With contributions from 19 genre-blending artists across Alberta, LYFE is more than an album—it’s a movement. From emotional highs to introspective lows, the project explores themes of love, pressure, transformation, and growth. Each track weaves personal stories into a collective narrative that reflects the evolving spirit of Calgary, a city in the midst of redefining its cultural identity.
“LYFE is a metaphor for Calgary itself—lost in its past, but now finding new identity through sound, collaboration, and culture.” — Symphonii, Co-founder of 3rd Verse Studio
Recorded entirely at 3rd Verse Studios, LYFE is largely crafted by Sierra Leonean-Canadian acclaimed producer and musical storyteller ChefBeatz. The 2025 & 2022 YYC Music Award nominee’s signature sound brings cohesion and creative fluidity to the 12-track album that effortlessly blends the distinct styles of each artist into a unified Afro-Fusion experience.
The album features standout performances from Mouraine, Tea Fannie, KTheChosen, K-Riz, and many more. Each artist contributes their own cultural essence and musical flavor, celebrating the vibrant Afro-Caribbean sounds now rising within Calgary’s nightlife and independent music scene.
Album highlights include:
- “Yesterday” – Premiered at the National Music Centre, this poem reminds us that the untold stories and wisdom from the African ancestors live within diasporans, ready to be shared with grace, strength, and power.
- “Something Different” – A smooth, genre-blending Afro-R&B collaboration between K-Riz and The Blue, that explores a connection deeper than the physical, narrating that rare feeling of meeting “the one”.
- “BREATHE” – Nominated for a 2025 YYC Award, this R&B/Hip-Hop anthem brings together KTheChosen, B-Kay, and Tarik Robinson (DragonFli Empire, DJ Cosm). The track inspires listeners to breathe through challenges, silence doubt, and celebrate individuality.
While LYFE pushes sonic boundaries, it also reflects a broader mission, to bridge communities, elevate emerging talent, and celebrate cultural identity through music. It is a testament to what’s possible when diverse voices come together to create something timeless and true.
Millennials across Africa and in the diaspora have the same picture of what the world should look like. We are documenting it in the coolest ways 🤘
